Has Anyone Had Hand Foot And Mouth Go Through?

I am hoping that I am wrong but I found a rash that looks like it. Mom is taking boy to clinic to see what it is.
I noticed two small dots this morning. A red flag went off in my head. Then at nap boy wanted me to take off his socks, because they were so tight he couldn't get them off and, surprise, there is a bunch of something at his ankles which he has scratched and is scabbed over. At this point I am really beginning to wonder what it is. So after nap, we go potty and there are more on this other leg and one on his belly and back of his leg. So, I text mom. She is annoyed.
We had this go through last year at the same time and it shut me down for a week. We all had it including my adult children who had scars for at least 3 months.
Mom just text me and the dr. said he doesn't seem to think its hfm, likely bug bites. How can it be bug bites it they are popping out during the day and we didn't go outside and I don't have bugs!! Last time she took him the the clinic they said he wasn't contagious and we, all of 10 of us had it. So now she is getting an attitude. Probably because her mom is in town and she won't be going to work and doesn't want to take care of her own sick kid.
    I am fed up!

Demand a doctors note with diagnosis. If his feet were that swollen and they were popping up while you were inside I would turn the child away. You make the decision who you care for not dcm.

She did get one but he said not congtagious likely a bug bite. They are not bug bites. I watched him closely and we didn't go out and I don't have bugs. Their dad is going to keep them home tomorrow. The same clinic told them last time he wasn't contagious and it went crazy.
If he doesn't get anymore, then we will know for sure

I would be telling dcp I understand that the doctor feels that it is not contagious, but I want to make certain we don't have a repeat of what happened the last time he had a rash that the doctor declared not contagious. To caution on the side of error, we always want to be safe instead of sorry.

I will have to ask that your child be excluded until the rash is under control.

        thank you for understanding

We did, and HFM is not generally considered a reason for exclusion. It's contagious for so long, and way before symptoms appear. The CDC does say that people with it should be excluded, but since they can be contagious for weeks, that might be unrealistic. When I looked last year (dcb had it), most medical sites said exclusion wasn't necessary. I also seem to remember that while it can be very uncomfortable in adults, but most are immune after exposure.

Yup I would say that too. I would definitely remind her of the last time if she tries to give you an attitude. Anyways, my kids have had hfm but someone it didn't spread...how I have no clue but at least it cleared up pretty quick.
