Okay so I don't know the whole story yet, but I have an interview tomorrow with a grandmother. She is going to have her grandson for two months. Mom lives in a different state, and grandparents are "helping her out". As far as my forms and signatures how would this work? I am guessing for a two month thing, they won't have a guardianship or anything. But I am not sure they can sign the papers. Anyone dealt with this?

I gave power of attorney to my brother and SIL when my youngest went to Cali for the summer (2008). They had authorization for medical in an emergency and the paperwork was notarized; I'm pretty sure that the grand mom needs this because otherwise legally she can't do diddly for the kid in an emergency, much less contract for childcare. You need to have specific times it will cover (like 3 months) and then it automatically expires... I did the same when my older dd was in Junior Olympics & had to travel; Her best friends mom had " legal" paperwork for a week at a time 4-5 times a year. The worst was when the team flew to Canada and dd was only 12 at the time.
