Quick! Need Help With Letter to Families That I Am Closing in 2 Weeks

We are renting a home that I operate daycare out of, but hubby accepted a job in another state and we have to relocate. We purchased a home there that closed last week, but had planned on staying in the rental home until the end of July to continue daycare and our childrens summer activities. It was supposed to be available August 1st to new renters. Our rental home was purchased last month, and a new contract wasn't signed because they knew we weren't staying. Today we found out that we have to be out by the end of this month, because new tenants want to move in July 1. My DCFs already knew of my closing next month, but now it's changing to the end of this month. I want to send out an email today due to the short notice...but what do I say about having to close sooner?

I think legally they still have to give you at least 30 days to move, not 2 weeks; look up landlord tenant law. I rented/took care of properties that were for sale for 6 years and I always got at least 30-60 days notice after the sale. If you had a year lease originally, 30 days is the least amount they can legally give you in most places even if you didn't renew

I was also thinking they legally had to give 30 days. I would call someone first.

Honestly, I am not going to mess with it. The home was sold last month to a new owner. We didn't sign a new lease and they knew we were leaving. I suppose we could try to have them stick to the old one, but we were moving out next month anyway, and they are giving us our $1500 deposit back as well. If we make a stink about a month, they may try to make us finish the last 9 months of the old lease, and keep the deposit. Not worth messing with, we will just move into our new home early. Just trying to figure out how to explain this situation to the parents.

I guess I would just tell them the truth. You don't have to give all the details, just that the house was sold and you have been required to vacate.

Do what last poster suggested .Apologize and give little details other than house was sold and you have to leave. I had to do that in Feb for health issue(heart attack)and all clients found alternate care.Good luck in your new home.

If it's to your benefit to just move (you'd be saving some money in rental fees if you can move into your new home as soon as you move out of the rental) then just give everyone a 2 week notice and explain the situation.
