Rates For Half-Day Care In Home

My friend and I are looking to take in a few kids in my home starting in August. We want to do half-days as there is a need in our town. How much do you think is a reasonable rate per week (or day) for half days? (About five hours). Thanks for your input!

I offer half days but only in blocks of time I set.

For example half day morning is from 8:00-11:00
Half day afternoon is from 2:00-5:00

If a child is present over lunch or rest time a full days rate applies as those times of the day are the busiest and the most hands on.

Rates for half days are only slightly less than a full days rate simply because I can't fill the space around them.

I wouldn't enroll someone on half days only and offer half days to regular clients that attend 3 or more days a week.

really depends on what full day rates are in your area, would price it just slightly less. I have a half day rate of $30 for 4 hours (8:00am-12:00pm) when my full day rate would be about $40/hr. I really don't do half days though, too disruptive for me having other kids here full time.
