    DCK Constantly Exhausted

I have had this DCK for about a year now and have noticed that DCK has always seemed exhausted since day one. This child is constantly yawning, rubbing her eyes, is irritable, and will randomly lye down in the floor. DCK has a hard time participating in activities because they are always moving around trying to keep awake.

I have mentioned this to the parents and they act like they have never noticed this behavior and have no idea what I am talking about.

Recently I was told that DCK is no longer napping at home and will probably need to transition to no naps here. I just can't believe that the child does not need a nap. The child is obviously uncomfortably exhausted every time I see them.

Last nap time, DCK was passing out all morning and when I went to put the child down for a nap, the child would not go down. I let DCK get up and then the child continued to randomly pass out for the rest of the day.

I am unsure as to what I should do, if anything. I just feel sorry for DCK. The child seems exhausted all of the time and I feel this could have negative health effects. The parents don't seem to think there is an issue. Maybe I'm just crazy.

Personally, I would let him take a nap as soon as he got there. It sounds like he is not getting enough sleep at night. Let him sleep for 45min-hour (depending on what time he gets there) and then let him take a normal nap. I have 2 here age 3 & 5 both boys take a nap every morning and at nap time. 3 y olds mom always says that she can't get him to go to sleep at night, 5y olds mom just let's him stay up until he falls asleep (pretty sure she doesn't even know when he does) Monday mornings are the hardest and I usually let them sleep a couple of hours. If things are going on like normal around them and they are steadily sleeping...........then they NEED sleep. (They do come in at 6am and 7am)

I have a similar problem with a child and he is nearly 2 years old. I have thought about putting him down for a nap as soon as he gets here but haven't tried it yet. I fear it will ruin his lunch time nap.

As long as you do it early enough and don't let them sleep too long, it's fine. I've found one of my kids(2years old) sleeps BETTER for his afternoon nap if he takes a 45 minute snooze as soon as he gets dropped off at 6:45. He's just not ready to be awake yet. If he doesn't get that nap in the morning, he's so crabby and exhausted until nap time and he has a hard time settling in and staying asleep because he's too tired to eat lunch so after he sleeps for 30 minutes and gets a small power boost, he's starving and wakes up wanting to eat.

So I put him down in the morning until 7:30-8:00 now, and we've had the best 5 weeks we've had since he started FULL TIME last November(it was a long, exhausting winter)

You may find the same to be true, depending on arrival time. If they arrive before 7:30, I would put them back down until 8:00-8:30. I secretly LOVE it and encourage my kids to all go back to sleep in the mornings! Everyone is arriving so I'm up and moving, but I get to surf on here and drink my coffee and eat my breakfast in between arrivals, while everyone is asleep! :-) obviously if they don't NEED to go back down, they don't, but it seems most of the kids I've had, need it. Even my 4 year old part time kiddo. She has school Monday-Thursday so Friday mornings when she comes at 7:00, she's still SO tired. She goes back to sleep until whenever. I don't wake her up. And then at
Nap time she lays back down and ALWAYS falls asleep. She's my best napper. She will sleep for 3-4 hours easily, and still go to bed at night. However, she's decelopmentally delayed in some areas so I think school really challenges her and she's extra exhausted.
