    2 year old struggling

I have a part time 2year old dcb. He's mostly here 2-3days a week for about 2 hours each day. Occasionally, I will have him all day. He is never with anyone but his parents so he's very attached. He cries a lot for his mom and dad, usually 20 min before pick up or most of the day if I have him all day. He does not nap unless I rock him and then I have to lay him in the chair. If I try and lay him down somewhere, he screams. He's not very verbal and mostly stands on, stomps on and throws toy
    toys.

I'm just trying to find ways of making nap time easier and how to better communicate with him.

I've found that at this age, if he's not on a permanent full time routine, it's really hard "switch it up" when they come to daycare. An older child can kind of understand, but at 2, he doesn't know why you've just laid him down and left him when mom and dad always rock and coddle him to sleep.

My best advice is to ask them to start sleep training him. He's PLENTY old enough to be able to put himself to bed without rocking and coddling. Establish a routine that works for both you and the parents for map time(here it's a book, a hug and a kiss, tucking in and I sit in the room for 5-10 minutes quietly on my phone, facing away from the kids so they can see me but not make contact)

I wouldn't be able to accommodate that situation, I'm afraid.

2 hours twice a week is too little for you to make a big difference and too little for him to feel comfortable. My minimum is 2 full days, and even then, some kids find it really difficult to adjust. I'd set a minimum, and also ask parents to work with you on establishing routines that will work when he's with you.
