    Expanding Small Home DayCare

    Hello all!

I was wondering what i had to do to expand my license from being a Small license (8 kids max) to a Large License (14 kid max). Where can i get the application for it? I've looked through the cdss website and can't find it!

If anyone could let me know i'd really appreciate it!

    Thank you!

I don't know about your state. But I recently looked into it here in UT. I found the form under forms, it is called "changes to license". But not sure how to find it for your state. Here, I will need to go through the business bureau first and the change in capacity will have to be presenting to the planning board, as it could be a zoning issue. If the board approves it, I will have to pay $300 to update my business license, then have the fire inspector re evaluate for the new number. THEN I can actually send in the application to expand to licensing I am thinking about doing it in August when I get my new provider grant money, but for now, that sounds like too much work

Form 279- It's the same application you used to apply for your license, but you mark capacity change on the form.

You send it in with the appropriate corresponding forms. (There is another form titled instructions that lists what you need to send)

You'll send it to licensing and they'll notify your fire inspector that you need a clearance. It looks like your in CA, so check to see what you'll need to do to pass. (It was extensive in my county)

You'll also need a business permit. Some counties require you to notify your neighbors, mine did not. It was still $500 and and $50 annual renewal fee.

Look into all your costs before making the leap. Good luck!
