This will be my last summer providing school age care. My most favorite 2 SA dcgs won't need me and mixing the ages doesn't work for me anymore. I couldn't do it if it weren't for those 2 girls. I've never had kids that were so helpful and thoughtful. I'm gonna miss them terribly.

School gets out in mid-June here so you'll probably hear it from me around June 23rd.

I am out of kids since my two SA kids left for almost free government funded care because mom and dad are living together but are not "together on paper". I am taking at least a month off to have some time in the semi with DH, but I hope I can fill up with no SA kids in a month or two. I really don't enjoy the SA kids like I do the littles. The SA kids just are not fun to me and they are more work. I love to watch the littles as they discover and learn new things and their little minds just seem to bloom.

          That's my every day!!!
They only have 15 more school days left here and as much as I love my SA gang, I could sure use the break. 16 of them every day for the past 9 months has been a roller coaster to say the least. Almost done!

I'll still be putting kids on the summer camp bus in the mornings and watching them when they come back, but its not the same gang and its less hours. So i'll hopefully miss them come August.

This will be me. At a moment of desperation this winter I accepted 2 preschoolers that have older siblings(2 Families). The siblings have been in the afterschool program so I have only had them minimally up until now. as of next week no afterschool and June 1st school will be out. I'm hoping one mom decides to leave, if not I see a term in the near future. 7yo dcb is just too rough and tumble for me he will cost me more in broken toys and wear and tear than mom will be paying me.

My own SA drive me nuts too. They're done Thursday, then it's FOREVER until Summer a School starts.

I am already there! and school isnt out yet! I made the mistake of taking a family with two school age children and a 3 yr old. i thought it would be nice for my 8 yr old to have kids his own age to play with. Nope. They are terrors. They treat the 3yr old like hes a baby, they are aggressive, dont listen to anything I say, are destructive, blatantly ignore me, refuse to follow rules even the 2 yr olds can follow. I had to buy a whistle because i have yelled myself horse just trying to get any of them to hear me! I would love to term them, but I just dont know how. The mom is so nice, and tries hard to get them to mind, and even offered to babysit for me and my husband! She always brings extra food for them since they eat me out of house and home. She is so happy that I can "handle" their crazy erratic behavior :/ and they are only here two hours a day tops. what am I going to do when summer finally comes!

I have two SA boys this summer, ages 6 and 7. I have a huge busy schedule planned starting Tuesday...but I left today open so they could just enjoy being out of school and ease into our summer routine. I'm such an idiot. I have had the worst day ever trying to rein them in...they're like wild unbroken mustangs! Here's to a rough introduction to boot camp next week!!

                        Never again

Last year was my last year with school aged. I had one little boy was a really little sh*t. He would would throw tantrums like a toddler. He wasn't special needs, just spoiled. I was already thinking of terminating when his mom dropped him off with a balloon that he almost swallowed. I lasted the day, during nap (while he was awake), I gathered all of his belonging and typed a term letter that was three pages (singled SPACED!!!) citing every reason he was being termed and the money for the next day (it was a Thursday). I greeted her at the door with him and said "This is your last day" and just locked the door.

I enrolled my own SA kids (7 & 9) in camp, and had my SA dcg enroll as well. All I have to do is pick them up down the street after nap at 3. (dcm is doing drop offs for me).

It's a pay cut (SA income is the same as before and after school care, but my own kids camp $), but sosososossooooooooooooo worth it.

This will be my first year without school agers!! happyface one of my clients from last year called but i gave her an outrageous price and I never heard back from her but seriously to take that child for the summer I felt like I would need to be compensated well so as not to be so bummed out. Honestly, I have my two super sweet can't get along for nothing, outrageously loud, always on the verge of saying something inappropriate, children (12.5 & 14.5) and that is probably already more than I can take....but at least I can send them outside to play with their friends.

The kiddos and me don't seem to mesh as well after they turn about 4, I have one 5yo DCB left and after he starts school in August I will not be accepting anyone over the age of 4. They are just too opinionated about everything and they can lead the toddlers astray so quickly
