    Dcb and Bruises

I have a dcb 1 who is just starting to walk, when my dd started she didn't fall all that much but if she did she used her hands to catch her. This little guy does not, and he falls ALL the time head first to the ground or into whatever he was trying to get to the poor guy is covered in bruises on her face and head. Some are from home but some are from here as well. What can I do? I feel so bad!

    Training fall reflex

Do you have a gym ball?
One of my twins had a late developed fall relex (please correct me if I am using the wrong word ). I trained it by placing him on his stomach on a gym ball, and while holding his legs slowly rolling the ball forward. At first his head would touch the ground, but slowly he started to put his hands on the ground to stop him from falling.

I just try to rearrange the play area so there is less to hit when falling and pad the edges of big stuff.

Otherwise, not much can be done. Some kids are just clumsy.

I had a dcg that gave herself a black eye when she fell on a book. I had my ds fall and give himself a bloody nose on his door frame. Neither were running. They just were unsteady new walkers.

This. Some kids are just "eyes closed and full speed ahead" when they start walking. The good news is they usually get steadier pretty fast. Is trying while it happens though.
