I'm New Here, But Looking for Advice

    Hi all,

I am entering my 9th year, 3rd in my current city, of my small in home childcare. When I moved to my new location and took on new families it was to get me through until I was done with my schooling. I waited one year before I started schooling because I had taken on 3 NBs. In August of 2013, I started pursuing my degree and was upfront with the families about it because it impacted a couple of their pick up times. That being said I also told them that it was a two year degree but that it would take me just over 2 years to graduate. I am set to graduate this December 2015 and cannot wait! However, at this point, just from daily conversations I am getting the feeling that NONE of them have any clue that I am graduating in a short amount of time. Matter of fact one of the parents sent me a text just a short while ago wondering if I take my vacation at the same time each year, because if so she would align her vacation for 2016 to be the same as this years. I absolutely refuse to lie to her but I also don't want to be put in the position of telling the families now and having them leave too soon. With my last semester of classes being a relatively heavy course load, I have decided to close permanently just before the kids go back to school in September. This due in part to having a 3 week clinical that I will have to complete in October. I do not have any written contracts that I need to abide by but what is a good time frame to give them?

I would just reply that you are unsure of vacations for 2016. Also, I would give notice in August. I have seen a lot on this board, where the provider gives a long notice and ends up losing kids almost immediately.

Just give her the dates and say NOTHING about 16.
