do i call out a lie

Dcg told us at breakfast that she stayed home all weekend because she was sick. Her mom took her temperature in the morning and she had a fever and was given two medicines, one honey one cherry.

This dcg is the one that was home "sick" last Friday but i had heard she was thrown out of preschool and i thought dcm kept her home so dcg wouldn't talk about it. Dcm is that crazy. I asked dcm this morning how dcg was over the weekend and she said she only had a temperature once on friday and was good all weekend.

Dcg is dropped off at 7:30 am and picked up at 3:30 pm. If dcm gave her 8 hour motrin I may never know if she is sick. Do I confront dcm with what dcg said? I feel like even if I do she will lie her way out of it and I can't prove it anyways.

I would text the Mom and tell her that DCG said she had medicine and ask if there is anything you should know. You can tell her that you need to know what medicines DCG is on in case there is a medical emergency which is true.

I would want to know. Also what does your handbook say about these things? If it is your policy I would have mom come get her based on the "dope and drop".

My policy states that I need yo be informed if given medicine. BUT....im pretty sure dcm will lie and tell me its vitamins or that she didn't give her anything at all. I guess I should text and ask anyway.

I would definitely ask. I would tell her it is important that you know, maybe blame licensing?

I would call/text her and tell her exactly what DCG said.

I would then tell mom since DCG mentioned it, you have to document it an have her sign off on it.

If this happens again, I'd term.

You can't prove DCM is lying but too many differing stories between mom and daughter and I would remove myself from the situation as I just wouldn't be willing to take on that liability.

            How old is daycare girl?

Dcg is 3. I know kids get days mixed up as in last year and tomorrow sometimes mean the same thing. But this was so detailed. I did text telling her the story dcg said and asked if she was given meds. Dcm responded just her usual vitamin, nothing else. I will have something for her to sign later. Good idea BC. If scg does get a fever today I will term on the spot.

If dcg ran a fever on friday, then she should no longer be contagious today.
I don't buy into kids stories, just as I ask the parents not to buy into the stories they tell them about things that happened here.

How is DCG behavior? Is she able to participate? Is she cranky or throwing tantrums?

Unless the parent had done this before, I would do a wait and see. If DCG spikes a fever or start to show any other symptoms, then i would talk to the dcm at that time.

right now you can only assume things.

I have the rule of you need to fill out a form to inform me of the meds your child has taken prior to DC, but I know I have plenty of parents that dont take the time to fill them out.

Can we ask why she was kicked out of Preschool? Possibly, for the same thing?

I dont know why but I can guess it was because of dcm. Thus us the same dcm that said "oh by the way, dcg has ringworm" as she was leaving from pick up.....after her child was here all day long. Same dcm that questions all of my policies. Dcm has told me that she is having a lot of issues with preschool policies as well. I don't know the facts. I do know dcm has not been honest with me in the past. She is a teacher so i have 7 more weeks till break and I will not be taking her back.

Dcg is not eating as much as she usually does but still eating some. She does seem sluggish but not enough to not participate. She is just kind of dragging today. I would question her behavior today even if she didn't mention the meds.

If that's the case, then that's what I would run with. I would call dcm and say seems like DCG is not quite ready to return to care today and list your reasons why.

One thing that i tell DCP is if your child comes back too soon, their immune system is still compromised and your child runs the risk of getting more sick. they can pick up other germs that could lead to other illnesses, therefore prolonging their return to DC. We miss your child when they are not here with us, but they need to be well to be here.
