    mother's day

I am not feeling the love enough to make mothers day gifts from the kids(or myself)....none of the mom's ever express any kind of graditude. At most I might outline their kids hand on paper and call a day. Any one else feel this?

I don't make crafts/gifts for family related things such as Mother's or Father's Day. I think those are things that need to be family involved not added to the lengthy list daycare providers already do....

Not to mention there are way too many family structures to consider.

I have enough on my plate.

I'm so glad you asked this. I was thinking the same thing, with the same logic as Blackcat. I don't really want to do it either and now that I am not the only one who thinks it's a family thing, I don't think I will. ๐Ÿ˜€

What is your user name? I can send you a password reset/reminder email if you need one.

Oh and just because you mentioned it.....Friday is Provider Appreciation Day!!!! Wonder how many of those moms will be smiling and thanking you for what you do?

I decided not to make anything for Mothers day. I made a real cute craft for Valentines Day with the dck's handprint. One mom literally crumpled it up on her way out the door. I thought it was rude. So, no more.

Our Birth-3 organization sent mugs, a wonderful mug with descriptive words of providers, such as amazing, artistic, trustworthy, loving, etc. So cool!! My new go-to coffee mug

I doubt any of my dcps realize DCP appreciation day is Friday. Last year they didn't have a clue and I have the same group.

Oh wow I think I would have spoken up and said something, out of ear shot of her child. What it must do to a proud child who makes something out of love for the parent, just to see that happen to their art work.

I remember last year we made those sunshine on canvas paintings, using their feet as the sun rays, and wrote You Are My Sunshine on them. One dcm came back with tears in her eyes and thanked me, saying she's never received anything so beautiful before and she really appreciated it. Another former dcm came to visit me right before Christmas and wanted to know what kinds of art projects we had been doing for parents for Christmas. So I showed her some of them. She said that was one of the things she missed the most, was bringing home all kinds of handmade things from her dd here. I wish all dcps were like that, especially after reading about yours.

Thanks Josiegirl. I really don't understand parents sometimes.

To be honest, I do it because it's expected from my current families. As they leave, I will NOT be doing it up like I do now. A small item- if that and child made card is ALL they will be getting in the future.

This year we are doing candy dishes with tissue paper decoupaged on (did these today, already clear coated them, they did come out ADORABLE), filled with M&M's, the card says MoM's are the sweetest. I am also doing a mini canvas with the kids free watercolor painting and a contact paper heart to peel off when they're done painting(so the heart is white).

The total for 6 kids was about $25.

I got two gifts for provider appreciation. One gift card for a pedi and one to a paint night event. (these are also my two long standing clients who really appreciate what goes home).
