I feel like a drama queen

So my problem daycare mom who said she was looking elsewhere, and wouldn't have the money to pay for the coming week until next Friday just stopped by. She gave me her weeks fee for tomorrow and her whole deposit that she was going to have to start making payments on. Guess since I need the money and she seems to be paying now, I will keep her a little longer. She also told me "DCG is drinking koolaid now", I said "oh that's nice I don't serve that here". She asked "even if it is sugar free?". "Nope I am not currently on the food program but it isn't on their list won't serve it". She wasn't happy but said okay. Then she said "well I wish you wouldn't feed her this or that or do this or that". I reached up with her $140 and said "take this back then if you don't trust me I can't keep DCG". She said "oh no I wasn't saying that it's just..." and I said "It's just that she is in group care now and will be treated and fed like the rest of the group". Again she wasn't happy but said okay and wouldn't take the money back.

So my backbone has gotten much stronger and I am proud of me for that. But my question is will this mom become a great daycare mom? I kinda doubt it but whatever.

She wants you to give her sugar free koolaid, then starts telling you she doesn't want you to feed other stuff? Wow, what exactly was she saying no to, while allowing her child koolaid??
If this is her first experience with having her child in daycare, then you could very well mold her into a great mom. Sounds like you're already doing a good job at it!

Well she didn't want her DD to have goldfish . I only serve them maybe once a month but I told her that I wouldn't change the menu for her. She said "oh then you can give her goldfish". But I guess she thinks she can make the program, I guess I just have to let her see I run the program and she chooses to use it or not. I am figuring the other provider she talked to probably wanted prepayment, and deposit and enrollment fee also. She had already paid my enrollment fee and last weeks care, but you know sometimes parents just want what looks good to their pocketbook . She wasn't going to have money for this week until Friday. I told her Friday that no care Monday without it. Then she came up with it today and today said "well I get paid Friday but I don't know how to use this card the put my money on, can I bring the money the following Monday?". I said "sure but be sure to include the $30 in late fees". She said she would figure it out for Friday .

Sometimes I feel like I need to train the parents as much as the kids. Stick to your policies and hopefully she will catch on soon enough. Sounds like she is the type if you give her an inch, she will take it and then some. Keep that strong backbone!

I'm glad she showed with the money.
