    Another EIN Question

I want to get an ein because I don't want to give my ss# to clients. My husband said there is a lot of extra paperwork involved if I get an ein as opposed to just using my ss#. Something about filing extra quarterly papers, whether or not I make any money? Is there anything different that I would have to do if I get an ein?

Nope. I got an EIN and don't do anything except at tax time. You aren't required to file quarterly just because you have an EIN.

Getting an EIN is VERY easy - I got it in 2 seconds from the IRS website with zero paperwork.

Oh, if anyone can answer this question also: If I get the ein number now can I use it for 2010 taxes? (And I apologize for not posting in the right place. I now see there is a tax section.)
