    Tight Pants

Curious if others have issues with tight pants. Do you ask your parents to send their children in pants that are not difficult to get up and down. I know they look cute but getting these things off for a potty training child to put a pullup on a nap is not easy. Socks are coming off, pants inside out. Accidents when the child can't get her pants down. My hands were hurting after trying to get her feet through.

I write into my handbook that children's clothing should be appropriate for our daily activities. I specify that if little one's are potty training, the clothes need to be easy for the child to put on and remove independently. So far, it hasn't been an issue but I would discuss it with the parent. Just say, dcg can't remove the pants and while at daycare, she needs clothes that allow her to be independent. In a group care setting, the adorable skinny jeans are just too much extra work.

This is what I write in my PHB: "Clothing should be comfortable, easy for your child to manage (buttons in front, elastic waist bands, etc.) and appropriate for messy activities such as painting. Clothing that comes on and off easily, without adult assistance, gives your child confidence in self-help skills and avoids toileting accidents. Closed toed shoes with tread are strongly advised for the prevention of outdoor injuries."

I have a deal in my handbook, but with one DCG it isn't working. I am constantly bugging mom. The other day, DCG got off the school bus complaining that her shoes and her jeans were killing her. Her jeans had split down the side they were so tight, and come to find out her shoes hurt her because she is 8 and mom let her wear HER shoes to school. So way to big and slipping around on her feet. We had to skip going outside over it. I need to find a solution.

@thriftylady Eek! How awful for her. I am surprised the school hasn't said anything, especially with the pants ripping. If it were me, I would talk to the mom about how her daughter is probably feeling. Example: dcg was so disappointed that she couldnt go outside with us today because of her shoes. In the future, she needs to be dressed comfortably for play activities. I don't feel comfortable excluding her and I am sure you don't want her left out of the fun either.

I have the same thing in my handbook. The children also need to have a change of clothing here and if they come in something that is too hard to manage I change them and send both sets of clothing home.

I had a dcg that couldn't even go up the stairs, her pants were so tight! ...she couldn't run in the playground, or use the sly, so after the first couple of times she came with those pants, I told dcm "I really liked her outfit, but the pants so tight are a safety issue, not to mention she really can't play freely outside".... dcm never sent dcg dressed that way again.

Yeah I have it in my handbook. Hopefully the dcm gets it this time. Mentioned more than once. I was surprised she asked which pants specifically were too tight. I tried to remember the pairs. Then told her to stick her finger in the waistband and at the feet and check. Really shouldn't have to tell her that.
