I love the flexibility each day brings and the impromptu learning opportunities. Today we were outside playing and heard heavy equipment. My neighbors had a tree cutting service on their property. We got out the wagon and stroller, sat in my front yard and had a great view of the action from a safe distance. It may seem silly to some, but a year ago I was working in an office. I was so jealous when the landscaping company would come to cut the grass because they were outside and I couldn't even have an open window. This job has some amazing benefits.

Isn't it great? We're in the backyard watching a crew pour a basement for a new house. Cement truck, crane, dump trucks, forklift-it's little boy heaven out there! -
Favorite part?? This week it's been the 5:00 closing time.

I love those unexpected experiences too! I few weeks ago we were on a neighborhood walk. The Fire men had all the trucks outside. We had an impromptu field trip! Not only got to see the trucks, but the firemen let them climb in the drivers seat and try on a helmet!

We got to watch a neighborhood activity yesterday too....
My kiddos were outside enjoying the awesomely rare weather we having this week when every fire truck, police car and emergency responder vehicle came by.....
House across the street was totally engulfed in flames.
Sad for the family that pretty much lost everything but a wonderful teachable moment for the DCK's. (fire caused by a backyard fire in a fire pit not properly extinguished and not appropriate with the dry weather...burning ban right now.)Comment
