Help! Occasional stay through nap time?

Do you allow part timers or drop in kids who are not usually with you for nap time to stay extra hours through nap time randomly?

For extra background information, this child (3.5 years) stayed through nap one other day a month ago and screamed, tantrumed, threw things, and kept all of my other kids awake for 1.5 hours that day. The struggle is that there isn't a place for her to go here to do "quiet" activities where the other children wouldn't hear and see her up and doing her own thing. Help!

I would allow it if they could nap quietly, of course you may not know this the first time but based on your last experience with this child I would not allow it again!

ETA: I would explain to the parent that since this is not part of the child's normal routine it is too disruptive for the children who do need their nap time while in your care.

Thank you SO much for your reply. Can you offer a suggestion as to a professional and diplomatic way for me to tell her that her daughter can't stay through nap? I have a really good relationship with this mama and don't want to ruin that.

I have allowed it in the past as long as parents know what to expect. If their child lies down and naps well, then we have no problem.

If their child will not co-operate with the regular nap routine, then they cannot stay and parents will be expected to pick up.

I make SURE they understand this. I cannot have nap time ruined for all the kids because of one. I require ALL kids in care to nap.

I would tell this particular parent that nap time did not work. Maybe agree to do it one more time, but warn the child will have to be picked up if she doesn't behave and that it won't be an option in the future.
