My handbook--so far, I have just a little more information to tinker around with, ha ha--is very long. It's about 8 pages typed.....I would never hand write it! It's long because it covers a lot of basics like whether your child is too sick to attend daycare, which that alone is one page. It's all easily organized which makes it fast to find specific topics. It also covers standard procedures and expectations like how to dress your child for daycare and what supplies the parent provides and what I provide and what my common practices. It's much easier to have it in writing how you handle "time outs" or "breaks" instead of tellling a parent over and over how you run your business. I feel it is good for me to have as a reference to my own practices also. I hope it doesn't scare off potential clients, but I've done my fair share of research thus far and really think it shows that I care about my future business.
