    What Do You Charge Part-Timers?

    Hi All-

My price is $225/week for full time children.
What would you charge someone that wants half day or 4 hours per day?

    Thanks

I divide out my full time rate and then add $10/day to that & require a minimum of 3 contracted days - paid hell or high water, whether you use them or not.

I have one half day child that pays half of my normal rate. I won't do that again as I can't fill the afternoon spot. I will replace her when possible with a full day child.

I have lots of part time (a few days a weeks) kids.
            $320 a month - 2 days a week
            $455 a month - 3 days a week
            $555 a month - 4 days a week
            $600 a month - 5 days a week

            They may not switch days.

              I don't offer part time so much...instead I offer 3,4 or 5 day options

3 days pay X amount per day
4 days pay about $2 less per day than the 3 day a week families
5 days pay about $2 less per day than the 4 day a week families

Rates are then adjusted if they want 3:00, 4:00 or 5:00 pick up.

I offer drop in (less than 3 set days a week) but it's only available when available and can't be scheduled ahead of time.

Drop in families must also pay cash AT drop off EACH day they use care and cannot be here the first hour or the last hour of my day.

I charge for the day . I did charge by the hour when I first opened 12 years ago . It was a nightmare . I had parents counting minutes and trying to get out of paying for the hour since they were 2 minutes short of the 60 minutes .

just curious how you schedule your 3-4 days? do you get a lot of holes in hour schedules when you do that?

I have 12 kids: 12 is my max right now

                      1. Baby R (M-Th) Leaves Friday open
                      2. Toddler L (M-F)
                      3. Toddler P ( T-F) Leaves Monday open
                      4. Preschool T (M-F)
                      5. Preschool I (4 random days) Leaves 1 random day open
                      6. Preschool J (M,T, Th, F) Leaves Wednesday open
                      7. Preschool C (T-F) Leaves Monday open
                      8. Preschool B (M-F) Leaves Friday open
                      9. Preschool J (M-Th) Leaves Friday open
                      10. Preschool L (m-Th) Leaves Friday open
                      11. 5 yr old C (M-F)
                      12. 5 yr old J (M-Th) Leaves Friday open

Regular Drop ins: (why they don't sign a contract and enroll at regular status of at least 3 days, I have no idea. I assume it's because they actually enjoy spending time with their child despite the monetary costs ).
                      Anyways, drop in kids are:

Preschool C Uses Monday and Friday each week
Preschool J Uses 1 Wednesday every other month

                      So that leaves me with:

                      Mondays 11 kids
                      Tuesdays 12 kids
Wednesdays 11 kids every other/10 kids the opposite W's
                      Thursdays 12 kids
                      Fridays 8 kids

I like the gaps it leaves. The financial loss is made up in the fact that several families are 4 days a week and the slight increase in their rate compared to the 5 day rate makes it a win-win situation.

Ive had a few 3 day a week kids and one 4 day a week family that I "think" only works 3 but choose to use 4 days of care every week but most the 3 day a week'ers figure out its cheaper to use 4 or 5 days so I rarely have 3 day a week families.

I charge weekly so I don't schedule two kids on any one day.

3:00 pick up for 4 days per week *was* my flat weekly rate ($150) for 5 days a week open to close so when I moved to contracted hours, I used that as my starting point and added/subtracted from there.

I think the change was presented well () and was just complicated (confusing) enough that no one questioned it and I make a bit more $ but work less so I'm happy.

Can you elaborate a little further? I am updating my rates for September and would like to adjust my p/t rates.

                          Currently, 5 days is $180/week.

So do you charge more per week for the part time space? Or less per week but more per day?

                          Sorry, a little confused
