    I Saw Her First Steps!!!

I have been watching this little nugget since she was 8 weeks old and she took 4 steps towards me and I got it on video! happyface I am very good friends with dcm, she is moving next month (I have been taking some videos just for me because I will miss her, she is my DDs best little bud).

Am I right not to tell mom, and let mom see "first steps"? I mean mom picked up and I didn't tell her...so I guess I chose already. Just want to make sure it was the right call I guess. Its funny though, she saw my DDs first steps and I didn't It was pick up time, DD was behind me and walked for dcm Little stinker. Because of that I am second guessing my normal "let parents see it first" rule, since the story is funny this time

You are right. Mommys miss so much, they deserve all big " firsts" to happen on their watch. :-)
Magically, here at least, they always accomplish huge milestones at home first. 😉

I always say "i think she will be taking her first steps tonight! She was so close!!!!"

All my dcps think I'm a genius that I know the exact day they will do their firsts. I would be heart broken if I missed those things.

This is my way too. I don't care if the kid's been doing something at my house for a while, big milestones always happen at home. If asked I just say they seem "really close" to doing it.

None of my infants do "firsts" at daycare . Mom always tells me what new thing they have learned, and I am always so happy for them. I cannot let the mom miss out on seeing the first anything!

I never tell. But if I think they did something here for the first time like take steps, I'll casually ask "hey has dcg taken any steps yet? She is so close!"

Thanks for your replies. I won't tell. I am usually really good at the "she is so close" and letting mom's experience that. I am just bad at secrets with friends . I will keep my excited yapper shut. I don't see dcg until Tuesday, hopefully she walks up a storm this weekend so we can celebrate her together

Lol. My kids and I get so excited when babies do something here but all we do is raise our eyebrows really tall, smile huge and head nod towards accomplishing baby. I'm always afraid that an older dcchild will rat me out of we verbally give it attention. Lol.

I've never seen anyone's first things either. . I noticed this baby had a tooth coming through and mom didn't see it until it was really showing up. I got an excited weekend text about her first tooth.

Truthfully, I think it depends on the mom and the situation. I have a dc family and they are on there 3rd child. (not that its less important now) but she was fine when the baby had her first steps here. I have had other moms that I have totally played it off and been so glad of that decision. At this point I would just play it off!

I was worried about this My older DD and the dcg's big brother would totally rat me out. When they heard me squeal with excitement I said "She ALMOST walked! So exciting!" DCB rolled his eyes "Ms. CC you need to calm down" ::
