Gee, Yet ANOTHER Homicide in My Area

If it works, there's the link to the police website reporting it. A man was shot numerous times close to the school in my old neighborhood. I don't know the man or anything, but it's only about a 3 minutes drive from my current house and right down the road from where I lived a couple of years ago. This is just another major crime that makes me keep saying how much I want to move to Frederick.

In the 2 1/2 years that I have lived in this home,

I personally witnessed a man being harassed by a large group of older teens/young adults. The man got a machete from his truck and chased them.

I have heard on the news or on news related websites about 2 people being shot dead. (Other than the one that just happened that the link above is about. So, I've heard of a total of 3 people that have been shot dead in 2 1/2 years within a 5 mile radius.)

I've seen on the kids' twitter accounts all of them discussing about a teenager who was paralyzed for life after being shot on the school grounds in my neighborhood. I have since then, seen that teenager going up and down the streets in my neighborhood in his wheelchair.

I heard on the news about a man robbing people at gun point in the shopping center's parking lot at the entrance of my neighborhood.

A couple of businesses (stores and banks) have been held up at gunpoint at various dates and times.

A female cashier that works in the grocery store at the entrance of my neighborhood was slashed with a knife while being robbed at her register.

I've heard about 2 home invasions with the perpetrators brandishing guns.

I was told by the teenager who lives in the house where a guy broke into their house carrying a gun while the family was home. (I guess that would be a home invasion of sorts) The guy knew that family and that they had money in the house to steal. He roughed up the males in the house that tried to defend the house, but didn't shoot anyone.

I also witnessed the police using a tank like vehicle and swat team in my neighborhood. A man was holding his girlfriend and the kids hostage in the house. It looked like a mini war zone on his block with police everywhere. They were using the loud speaker to talk to the man. They made the homeowner of the house across the alley from that house let the police set up in their house so they could go upstairs and get a straight on view of the upstairs bedroom where the man was.

There might be more, but those are all that I can think of right now. I don't even live in the city. I live in the county!

    Yeah, I wanna move!

Uh yeh, I don't think I'd feel too comfortable living that close to so much violence either. That is scary!!
All the more reason to sock that money away and make it happen!

Yeah, it's a bit scary. I am not overly afraid per-say. I go about my day and night, running my errands, go to the Walmart all the way up til they close at 11 pm. But I make sure to be aware of my surroundings when I'm out and acknowledge my dog's reactions when in the house. But when I hear of something happening, I definitely check on my daughter. I've actually gone to her job and followed her home once just to make sure she made it home from work safely.

I have my plan on how to be able to move to Frederick and have already implemented the first few steps. I'm working on it.
