    Parent falling

I have three steps that go up to my porch. I had a grandparent pick up today and I met him outside because he had a fever and my dogs go nuts when anyone new walks in. I handed him DCB and he turned to leave and down he went with daycare boy in hand. I screamed so loud and my heart just went 1000 mph. I helped him up and DCB wasn't hurt or anything. Grand dad said that his bad knee just gave out on him. I have never had anyone fall down those steps in the 9 years I have lived here. I don't have handrails because it isn't that high up but I'm guessing I should look into getting someone to build me some.

OH wow I would build some, just because of potential liability issues. They are not that hard, some concrete and 4X4s is a good place to start then once they are in you can pretty them up.

When we bought the house and our homeowners insurance lady came out she said we didn't need them because it's not a certain height, but I think your right. I'm gonna get my dad to build them for me hopefully this weekend. I'm still freaked out about it.

Well your insurance lady very well may have been right if you are considering building codes. But this day and age you can't be to careful it seems. We built one at one house we had with the 4x4's then painted it and put some lattice on it and I added some flower boxes. It wasn't horrible expensive and I loved the look once it was done wished I had done it sooner. I did it back then because my mom and grandmother had trouble with the steps, I didn't have daycare at the time. Like I said though I loved the finished look.

My husband is freaking out now too because you never know. What if he broke something like his hip or his knee so hubby is gonna draw up some blueprints (engineering side of him) and build some handrails. Ugh. I really hope he is ok. His daughter said he said he was ok.
