    Bad Idea?

I signed one part time family yesterday for 3 days a week. YAY!!!! They have a 3 year old and an 8 month old.

Another family that wants full time wants to sign on as well. They have a 16 month old and one is on the way that's due in March and she would take an 8 week leave of absence from work.

I have twin 8 month olds.

So technically by the time I got the newest baby the 8 month olds would almost be a year.

I would take on NO other kids. Is this going to be too stressful?

Well for me it would be a bad idea. But what do regs say where you are? I ask because each state or county is different but both places I have lived would say no to that.

      I say YOU CRAZY!!!

I would not do that and I would not even be allowed to here in my state we can only have 4 under 2yrs at one time.

I have a friend that does under 2 care, so she only has 4 kids total and she told me that starting summer she is only taking one baby and the rest preschool. she said she is about to cry herself to sleep every night from all of the stress.....

I love the under 2 crowd! When we move this summer, my daycare will be 2 and under...I can have up to 5 kids.

No way in heck!! Just my opinion though. Babies are hard, especially if they are not on the same schedules. Good for you if you can do it, but there is no way I could do it.

So you would have a newborn, two one yr olds and a almost 2? I say go for it.
            I have :
            2-4s
            2-3s
            1-2
            1-19mo
            1-17 mo
            1-16 mo
            1-11mo
            1-9 mo

All within ratios. I can have 12 if over 3. But I choose to have mixed ages.
I can have 10 but no more than 3 can be under 16 mo.

            I've done this since 1987.

I personally would do it, but as was said check state regs; when I moved from AR I had to drop a kid, so I went from 5 babes to 4 under 2 years old at any time. Right now I have one 5 month (PT), one 7 month (PT), one drop-in 13 month, one 21 month and 2nd drop-in 23 month.

                Heck yeah! I have:
                1 4mo old
                1 18mo old
                1 21mo old
                1 2 yrs
                1 2.5 yrs
                1 3 yrs

I prefer the under 2s and wish my whole group was that young. I can have 2 under 1 yr and a total of 6.

Here you would be over ratio. You can only have 3 children under the age of 24 months but you wouldn't be able to care of any other children.
                  Ratio here under 24 months-.3
                  Two-three-.2
                  Three-five-.1
                  School age-.06

                  I do mixed grouping so
                  12 month old- .3
                  2 two year olds- .4
                  3 three to four - .3
                  Total= 1

Thank you for your responses!!! Holy cow some of you have awesome groups! I bow down to you. These groups make mine seem like not as big of a deal as I thought.

Obviously music will be a big deal along with playing with blocks and shapes, but what kinds of activities do you do when you have a group that young?

We play. Just play. With everything older groups play with, just with more supervision. I love my littles. Once they turn 4-5 they kind of outgrow me.

Only you know what you can handle. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with those ages. I've had "twin" infants in my program more than once and it's always been fine. But like I said, only you know if it'll work for you or not.
