    Infant naps

Do your dck's under 1 year take a morning and afternoon nap?
If yes how long are they?
Do you require children under 1 year to take a morning nap?
    Any exceptions?

I have a dck, 9 months, who is here 2 days a week, 4 hours per day (8am-12pm). He cries a lot and is very tired but won't sleep. He just sits in the pnp and cries. It's keeping my other infant from napping.... Dcm says he passes out in the car on the way home. I'm considering terming because of the disruption. I do not have a f/t spot or I would offer it to her so that we could work on it every day. He also won't take a bottle from me, only food.

It depends on the child if they take a morning nap or not.
Most of the time, by the time the children are around 9-11 months, they slowly transition out of the morning nap here. We are always busy and they don't want to stop playing to sleep. They did fall asleep during lunch a lot at first. But if they wanted to take a nap, they definitely can.

Your dck isn't there for very long. Does he cry while playing or just when in the pnp? It may just be that there's too much excitement and he doesn't want to sleep while at your house.

If he's just PT, and he's going to cry and keep the other child up, I wouldn't even try a nap. Now, if he were there afternoons, I'd term-no one messes with nap time.

At a year, he doesn't need a bottle. He can have a cup just like the older kids. I like tupperware bell tumblers until they're old enough to go without a lid. Most of my kids stop getting bottles from me at around 10 months. I start introducing a cup as soon as they can sit up.

What would you recommend if he is crying regardless of where he is because he is tired?
I tried not napping him but he still cried for hours... whether I held him, let him play, meal time...
        I'm gonna try a cup!

It may be because he is only p/t. Some children don't adjust well to that kind of schedule.

That's what I was thinking too.... I think if I am going to continue care it needs to be more days or at least all day on the 2 days she has scheduled.
              Thanks!

My 17 month old dcg naps from 9-1030 and from 130-330 every day. I think it depends on the kid, but if he is only there for a few hours, I would avoid nap and keep him on the same schedule as the other kids.

It's just really difficult hearing him cry for hours when I know he is tired. Then my other infant joins in. My whole house is loud with crying babies.

Plus his mom said he passes out ASAP on the way home. He is so tired. It's not worth the money anymore.

I have three infants aged 9,10 and 11 months. They all take a morning nap and afternoon nap. The naps are 1 and a half to 2 hours long.

I'd bet they rock, carry, or drive him to sleep, or he co-sleeps.

You can't fix this in two mornings, and taking him two FULL days will kill you, I promise. He will do the same thing during afternoon nap.

The only thing that might work is 5 mornings, and then be prepared to tackle CIO. He will eventually get it, but it'll be torture for all of you. Except, of course, his parents, who will continue to rock, carry, or co-sleep.

So true. I just had a talk with dcm. I asked her to practice at home for the next week, that I would try 1 more day. She said 'I created my own little monster'.......
