    croup

One dck was taken to urgent care this morning because of a fever and barky cough. Diagnosis - croup.

A dcm mom just texted, how's dcg. I text back fine. Then I get to thinking, why does mom want to know. I text back - Barky cough? Dcm texts back yes. I go take sleeping child's temp - 101.6. I text mom a pic of thermometer. Mom texts back, do you have any meds? I text back - come pick up, child has croup and has to go to the dr. This child gets bronchitis every year.

We have had a mulch/green waste fire burning about 5 miles from us since last Sat. We have been staying in the house because of the smoke and smell. I'm wondering if part of this is cause by the fire.

Croup is usually viral, sometimes bacterial. Never because of smoke/smell. Parents may want to blame it on the fire, but that's not the cause.

I meant that part of the coughing could have been caused by the fire, not the croup.

we have had a few with it here too. its going around really bad and my own chld got it a few weeks back. I had to pack him up and send him to my in-laws for a few days, I felt horrible and like the worst mother on the plant. But he had it really really bad. fever up to 105.5..............luckily I was able to stay there with him one of the three days he was there and then daddy got to stay the other two, but that was the hardest thing to do as a mother, leaving your baby sick...UGH I hated my life that week....
