Is QRIS what is called The Maryland Excels Program?

I just realized that what I used to do in Florida a few years ago wasn't called QRIS, it was called Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale. So I started researching 'QRIS'. It seems to me like it's different in each state. At least that's what my research shows me. Am I wrong? I'm actually a bit confused now.

When I Googled QRIS Maryland (my state), it refers to The Excels Program as the QRIS. Is the Excels program the only QRIS we have in Maryland? Are there different QRIS' for each state? Can you explain this to me?

Yes, that's what it sounds like. Each state has a different name for their program with different requirements to coincide with what that state has decided is 'quality daycare'. Maryland's is the Excel Program. I understand now. Thank you.

QRIS is a Quality Rating Improvement System that receives money from a federal department (U.S. Dept of Children & Families) but like the USDA food program, it is implemented and interpreted through each individual state.

In MN is it called Parent Aware.

Here is a link that tells you about each state's "version" of QRIS:

            Blackcat,

Thanks for the link. Yep, Maryland Excels is my state's QRIS. I've participated in the Excels program since last April. I just always heard it called Maryland Excels, not QRIS. But when I lived in Florida, we did use the term QRIS. So I was getting a little confused.
