The thought that someone who does not know me, or my clients, or my daycare kids....can come in and "evaluate" the care given here is ridiculous.

My clients bring their kids to me because we are FAMILY. NOTHING about what they love about my daycare is remotely covered by QRIS.

This picture was taken today at nap time. The 2 year old toddler adores my 18 year old daughter. She has been here since she was born and her brother for several years before that.

She patted beside her and said "Ashey (Ashlee) nap too?" So they did. (My daughter is not a provider, so it's OK for her to sleep!) Her mother loves the fact that this kind of love is not found on a scale, or in a book. It can't be "rated" on a form.

    And it's much more important.

and no matter how GOOD a program looks on paper, you CANNOT quantify THIS. THIS is what early childhood ed is ALL about. SECURE relationships, attachments, trust and a bond. A child who is loved will flourish.

My dd just played kitties for an hour with my 2yo dcg. Last week, my ds/9 built lego houses for all the kids and played city with them for hours, my ds/6 reads to them and even my ds/13 with asd gives the boys 'knucks' and the girls '5's'. My husband sends me pics of his construction work for my tool/truck obsessed dcb. Two kids cried at pickup because they counted the days until Monday and were going to miss me too much. One asked his Mom to send a picture of his name he drew himself.

I found this to be interesting.
And if it's true, then why on earth is so much money being poured into this system that has so many flaws, has countless providers stressed to the hilt trying to please the state, will end up pushing many good caring providers out, and it's not even doing any good?
I posted that same article awhile back and we had a pretty great discussion about it. (I'll see if I can find the thread)

      But to answer your question....

They pour money into QRIS for the same reasons they do Head Start (despite it being a billion $ failure).

Because it's a government program that for some reason some one thinks the more they pour into it the better it will be.....my only question is "when"?

They've known the same thing about Head Start for years but they still keep pouring more money into it and hoping for better results....

It's that the definition of insanity?

Doing the same thing over and over expecting different outcomes.

What's right for one child/person/family may be so off the mark for the next one. That's why options are available, different methods and types of child care and schooling.
No worries. They will just mandate time for developing creative thinking in QRIS/Stars.
