    Children Playing Together

Do you guys make children play with other children? If one child is playing with something or two children and another child comes along and wants to play but the other children say no do you make them include the child or have the child choose something else? This morning dcg4 and dcg3 were building towers with blocks dcg 2 1/2 (who has the mental of more like 3, 3 1/2) wanted to build blocks to. The two girls said no they wanted to play alone. What would you have done? I told dcg 2 1/2 to go choose something else and when they were done she could have a turn but now I'm second guessing myself. I mean the 3 of them normally play together really well but sometimes they just want some space from each other.

For me it depends on each situation . If the 2 kids playing are trying to be mean then I would have them include the other .
If the 2 were playing something that there is not enough of or if they had been playing for a while then I would let them to continue to let them play .

What I don't let happen is for a child to encourage others to exclude 1 child .

I do not force children to play together. I have them ask the other children if they can play. If they say no, then they go play somewhere else.
No one in my group gets upset. They are 2- almost 3 year old boys.
