    Booger Buddies

So I know I posted some of my pet peeves on here before and those were solved so I hope you guys can help me with my ultimate pet peeve...booger picking!

ALL of my kiddos do this right now (well, except the baby) and it drives me up a wall.

My ds is the worst offender and he often eats his boogers as soon as I tell him to go wash his hands...urgh!

Any suggestions to help? This has been going on for weeks with no success redirecting/washing/reminding/removing the fingers...

Le sigh...booger phobia and childcare don't mix! ::

Oh ha ha ha! I have two that do this and eat it, and they loooove it. There is no stopping them. They should grow out of it, just a phase. ::

Gross! I feel your pain; this is an EVERY FRIGGIN DAY occurrence at my house too! I have about six that I am constantly telling to go wash hands, keep your hands away from your face, etc...

Nothing helpful here...just keep being consistent. Much sympathy to you.

Ha,ha. This is so funny, but not funny. So far my older dds don't do it. I think they are germ phobs themselves. My youngest and dck are too young for me to know just yet. But my youngest will do the lick her upper lip when her nose is running if I dont get to it fast enough. Eeeew.

I feel your pain!!! I only have two kids in my day care that do it constantly - my 3 yo dcb and his 6 year old brother

I'm constantly talking to them about it, sending them to wash their hands, etc. We rarely watch tv here but when we do have the occasional video, I look over and he's snacking on his boogers (we really need a vomit smiley here: I'm at a loss. I mean obviously I hope they grow out of it, but if the 6 year old is still doing it, I'm losing hope the 3 yo will stop anytime soon. I also imagine the 6 yo does it at school too

I picked....and ate( ) my boogies until I was like 10! Only once I figured out what boogies actually WERE did I stop!

Perhaps you could explain what boogers ARE and explain that it's actually dirt that they're eating LOL Of course this would work only for older children! I have nothing for the little ones.

We have the battle every day here too, especially since everyone has a runny nose, they like to do the lip swipe if I don't catch it right away, or they will pinch their nose and pull out a big string. Ugh . It grosses me out now! I've gotten my littles on board with wiping their own noses. I just leave a box of kleenex out and they wipe it. We use a LOT of kleenex that way, but it prevents the eating of the boogers if they have somewhere to PUT them .

The imagery here made me gag! I seriously am grossed out by boogers, which dh finds funny since I work with kids.

It's even more ironic since it's my own ds that's the worst offender. Le sigh...we'll try to talk germs again...

              Ugh...boogers!

After reading the first post, I realized my stomach is too sensitive at the moment to read the rest.
Keep doing what you're doing, if only for cleanliness sake. But I've found for habits like that to break, the peer pressure thing often works wonders. Enough "EW GROSS" from some of their favorite playmates gets wee ones to stop and think.
