    full-time over part-time

I prefer full-time and never had part timers but with 2 openings now for over 6 months I am considering part-time. Should I be upfront with parents and let them know if I have chance to fill with full-timer I will give 2 weeks notice or just wait and if I need to give 2 weeks notice? Thanks

I leave 2 of my 10-12 spaces open for part timers. I can fit 4 part timers into 2 spaces if their schedules coincide. I also charge more for part time so I make more for one spot with 2 part timers verses 1 full timer in the same spot.

However, with that said my goal for my other spaces is full timers but I would take temp part timers with the agreement that should a full timer come along that wants the space, the part timer gets first opportunity to move up to full time status or they have to give up their spot.

Im in this for the money so I go with whatever situation nets me the most income.

That's how I would handle it. I am the opposite and prefer part-time. I have one full time slot and save the other 5 for a mixture of part-timers. I might be able to handle 2 full timers.

I like pt'ers. I can take the bad in doses and look forward to the good ones coming.

I prefer to have 3 full time and 2 part time kids. But, I do have it in my handbook that if I need to fill a f/t spot, I will give p/t families a chance to take the f/t spot and if they don't want it, I will have to fill their spot with a full time child.
I actually had to do that this past summer. I had 2 p/t kids, who I loved, but had to fill a f/t spot. I had to let the 2 p/t kids go (due to their ages-here we can only have so many under 30 months) and it stunk, but I had to do it.

I have 2 p/t kids and I make more with them than with 1 p/t child, plus it gives me a little break on some days.
