Has anybody hired an assistant for your in home daycare? At what point did you know you were ready (it obviously had to make sense financially but what else should be considered?) Also, have you ever hired other forms of help instead for example someone to come in once a week and do the weeks meals? Why or why not?

During the early part of my pregnancy I found that I was extremely overwhelmed with daycare and just needed help. I hired an older lady I knew through church and she was wonderful. She came in two mornings a week and was willing to help with anything. Some days she worked with daycare kids planning a special craft or snack for them to make together. Other days she actually helped me with things I couldn't keep up with while doing daycare, such as doing laundry, vacuuming, etc. Sometimes she made the day's meals for the dcks. She was absolutely a blessing and I'm sure she is how I survived that period of time.If you are financially able to hire someone and feel like doing it all yourself has become stressful, I would absolutely recommend hiring an assistant. Be clear and upfront about what your expectations will be and what their job entails. One of the complaints I've heard most from assistants is not knowing what their employer actually wants from them. Are they just supposed to play with or supervise children, or would it be more helpful if they brought a lesson plan, helped with meal prep, or took charge of clean up, etc. Hope everything works out well for you!
