    Need Advice

Hi! I am in need of some advice. I am currently a elementary school teacher. My goal is to open a home daycare in the summer and eventually open a center. I want to start all of this, this summer 2015. My parents thinks I should work another year of teacher since this is only my second year teaching. I really do not want to do this because I am going to open in the summer which means I would have to stop in the fall or do afterschool care. What advice can you offer to me?

This is the second or third time if seen this post over the last week. Not sure if you are a troll but I would suggest you register as a forum member first.

To register on the forum, you do not need to use your business information.

        The forum is free.

I might be wrong here, but, I would think that a teacher would be able to write sentences that are grammatically correct. Personally, I'm going with the concept of you being a troll rather than a teacher.

Examples of things a teacher would not write...

currently a elementary... A teacher would write ...currently an elementary...

My parents thinks... A teacher would write... My parents think

year of teacher... A teacher would write ...year as a teacher...

register just... A teacher would write ...register. I'm just...

without have... A teacher would write ... without having...

Typically, I don't correct people's grammar on the forum. But, with it being said that you might be a troll, I thought I'd give my reasons as to why I agree.

You have 5 errors in the 8 sentences you wrote. I agree with your parents to a degree. I think you need to stay in school; not as a teacher, but as a student.

However, if you are not a troll and truly are interested in opening a daycare, I will give you some advice.

I would keep the teaching job as long as you can. It takes time to start a daycare and get clients. The first thing you need to do is find out the law about providing child care in your area. Some states allow you to babysit without a daycare license in your home others require a daycare license even if you only watch one child in your home. Who you call to find out the laws very from state to state as well. I would suggest that you call your local Department of Social Services and see if they can point you in the direction of who would know the laws regarding offering childcare in your home.

After you find out the laws as to whether or not you have to have a daycare license, if one is required, you then have to find out and go through the procedures of obtaining one. Here, in Maryland, it could take about 6 months or so to get your license because of the classes you have to take, the time it takes the Department of Education to send someone out to check your house and approve it for daycare, the time to get a Fire Marshall to your home to approve it for daycare, etc.

Now, if, in your state, you are not required to obtain a license and can just start babysitting, then you can start placing ads. However, if you really depend on yourself having a dependable income, I would keep the teaching job and offer child care in the evenings and on weekends until I get some clients and really believe that the daycare will become a steady income.
