Well how old is the child? I believe lying needs to be handled differently at different ages. This whole thing could have been handled with a sense of humor and not made a big deal out of. JMO Yes, kids need to learn the difference between truth and fantasy but it's way different if you dealing with a 3 yo 'wanna be princess' or a 1st grader.
If you're seeing this as an issue of dcm wanting to pass parenting responsibilities onto you...that might need to be addressed. The fact she needs to come to dc prepared(dressed for the day, etc. if that's written into your policies) that would need to be addressed.
Otherwise, in the grand scheme of things, this, TO me, would be small potatoes.
