    Fewer kids = Longer Days

I don't know if anybody else experiences this phenomenon but it seems like the fewer kids I have here during the day, the longer the day seems. Me and my whopping 2 kids today are just dragging through today. 3 more hours and I'm looking at the clock like it can't possibly be 3 MORE HOURS.

The kids are fine, just a bit on the bored side since there's nobody to play with. Dcg is 10.5 years old and dcb is 14.5 months old so not exactly play mates. It's too cold to go out
(our high today was -15F) so we're cooped up in the house. We've danced, watched a movie, baked, painted, made play dough, etc.

Most likely tomorrow will be the same deal-just these 2 again. Forecast is calling for 8-12 inches from 4pm today through tomorrow evening so I'm guessing it'll be a snow day again-that'll make 4 snow days this week.

Time just needs to go faster today-and tomorrow. Then crawl like a snail on Saturday and Sunday!

    I agree!

I've read so many posts where providers are celebrating a quiet day with absent kids and I always think to myself...wow, I must be odd then because I don't really like the quieter, less kid days...the time drags on.

The busier I am, the faster the day goes and honestly the better the kids get along with each other too because there are more choices in playmates.

I was just thinking the same thing. I have 8 kiddos today by myself and the morning has gone faster then the days i have 5 or 6. It seemed easier today and I knew it would so I even told my assistants to stay home.
lovethis daymommy to 7 kiddos - 5 girls and 2 boys

Oh good its not just me! :: Anything under 6 is too slow! At least with 5 I can take them on field trips to pass the time. When we are stuck here 5 and fewer makes it drag. Today is my first day with 7 in weeks and I am happy as a clam ::

To me, it depends on which kids are gone. There are 2 kids here (sibs) who I really enjoy having-they play so well with my own kids that it's like having a free babysitter-I get so much done! Others, they are attention ****ers when other kids are absent.

Snow day tomorrow. That makes 4 snow days in one week. Same 2 kids as today will be here. At least it's Friday.

Yes! I agree with you ladies so much! I do always tend to look forward to days where I have fewer children and I look forward to maybe 'relaxing' or altering my routine, but man, the day goes so slow, the kids are bored, and it just feels like so much more work for me... I *think* there will be school here tomorrow, so it should be a normal day for me which is great!

For me it depends on which children are left, I had 2 dcgs 2 on Monday and it was the best day! But if it had of been dcb2 and dcg 4 who add siblings it would have been so long!

Normally I like having more kids, but today I will only have 3 and it is a good mix, so it will be a light day. Huzzah!

I can only have 3 kids, and our best days are when it's just my own two plus the baby DCG. It's so easy with just one extra!

I rather have fewer. Today I have all of the PT'ers. Every 2 minutes I hear "Miss Hope, I need this" "Miss Hope, she did this, she did that". I have a headache from all the noise. I like my calm days with less noise. It seems like everyone is super sensitive here because everyone is coming down with a cold.
