    That's what I would say also but didn't have my own saying mommy. When I started daycare my own were school age and I only did daycare in the summer months for all school age children so it didn't come up.

    However later I became a grandmother and my grandchildren were in my daycare so they called me 'grandma' and then dck's called me grandma too. I liked it though and their parents didn't mind. But grandma seems a bit different than mom.

    Sometimes my grandkids would say "No, she's MY grandma!" and get upset but then I'd whisper to them that I was ONLY their grandma but the kids just say that. That seemed to make them feel okay. It was like it was our little secret.

      This sort of reminds me of how my younger two kids who were about 4 and 6 when i started the daycare would call me by my first name instead of mom, They knew it would get my attention quicker than the "mommy" everyone else was calling me!
