    Is It Odd

That every single one of my daycare kids have an ear infection along with a nasty nasty nasty cough and runny nose. Well now I have one swollen tonsil, ear ache and my nose is runny too. Grrrrrrr. My daughter has this mess too now. Poor thing was already on antibiotics for strep which she had over Thanksgiving accompanied by the stomach bug. I feel like mine is just another sinus infection because I get those all the time. Yet I have never had all 5 of them to have ear infections at the same time.

Typically my kiddos get it one after the other. You can see the virus travel through the group, . I feel for you, it's hard enough when just one of the kiddos has it!

I know I came across hateful this morning to my clients but I told them all if your child(ren) is fussy and clingy then your gonna be called to pick them up. I'm sick with this mess and having 5 sick kids plus a husband who started coughing this morning is no fun. The parent who kid brought it in said that her ped said it is an ear infection that is showing up with bronchitis symptoms. Are you sure it isn't bronchitis with an ear infection? She and her husband both are a little flighty. I can't wait till next Friday then Im off for two full weeks. I hate it when parents are like oh it's been such a hard night listening to them cough. I'm sure it is but try chasing them around to wipe their nose and Clorox wiping everything they touch plus having all of them wanting to cuddle with you because they don't feel good. I'm thankful to have my husband here who cuddles our daughter, but sometimes she just wants her mommy.

My illness policy states that if a child is too ill to participate in normal day care activities then they will have to come get the child. I see nothing hateful about that, it should be common sense.

It's a domino effect, one gets it, they all get it one after another. We just had the horrible cough and runny nose go through here the week before thanksgiving. 2 ended up with ear infections along with it and one ended up with pneumonia.

Some kids are more prone to ear infections, I have one that gets an ear infection with every cold.

Every dck had the same exact cough, almost croup-like but not quite. One of the kids' pediatrician said the cough sounded so bad because it was coming from the throat, not the lungs. So the vocal cords were very irritated and strained, causing the horrible sound.

This is that same cough you described. My husband took our dd to the doctor and her ears and throat are clear. She said she has some post nasal drip and we need to dry it up with Benadryl. My poor nephew is the worst with it and he has tubes in his ears. My mom hasn't slept in a few days because he can't get comfortable enough or the cough wakes him. I'm just ready for next Friday then I have a two week vacation.

I love how everyone thinks the minute their child has an ear infection it is not contagious. No, an ear infection isn't but the gookey gunk coming from their noses, the coughing and sneezing, etc. they have along with that ear infection ARE all still contagious!!!

I agree with others, if you aren't able to participate in our normal activities you need to be at home.

It seems like we're catching everything from the DCKs this year. We all caught the flu in November right before Thanksgiving. Now it seems that strep is going around the whole community. Last week one DCfamily had it and now my son does. I hear that a lot of friends and schools have children who are home sick.

No matter how much I disinfect, wash hands, and teach how to cough/sneeze, etc, the kids still catch it. I'm frustrated. My hands are so chapped from all the washing and sanitizing! And I don't want to get sick again! Grrr
