I have a 4 year old DCG who will stand and pee in her pants without making an effort to get to the bathroom. She was fully potty trained for several months, but for many months now, off and on she will do this. I fully believe she is controlling this and that it is not an issue of her holding to long or that she isn't recognizing that she has to go especially because she was potty trained for so long since she started doing this. I also don't think that she is having any issues with not being able to hold it, as she has gone all morning before without going and stayed dry. She goes to preschool twice a week for a couple hours and this has never happened there. Mom says she does this on ocassion at home too. On the days she is not in preschool, she is with toddlers and babies here. The other preschoolers are at school opposite days of her. I have wondered if she does this to be on the same level of the younger ones? I have tried many different things with her and at this point have decided to put her in pullups for the remainder of the day after she has done this. She has no problem here with being told she will wear a pullup if she chooses to pee on the floor with no effort to get to the bathroom. Mom and dad say she throws a fit if they suggest putting her in a pullup after she has done it at home. My thoughts are that she knows it is not a choice here and that at home when she throws a fit, they don't follow through and make her wear a pullup. Any other suggestions on what else to try would be greatly appreciated!

My daughter has a couple of problems with this several months after being fully potty trained. They were medical. One was a bladder infection, which took her a week to get back on track from, and another was most likely because of constipation (resolved itself in a few days). Just because we don't know the reason doesn't mean there isn't one. If this is happening frequently, off and on, they may want to talk to their doctor about it.- Flag

It could still be situational as you suggested. I would try to see if there is a pattern or similarities when it happens (time of day/ activities). One of my dck had a harder time with accidents outside, because she didn't want to stop long enough to go inside. Wanting to be like the younger kids is definitely possible, but it's been happening at home too, and from my understanding most of the time she is fine at your house.
Wanting to put her in pull ups (at home and your house) after an accident makes me think that when it does happen, it's not an isolated accident, but continues for a while.
Watching bowel movements, checking for irritation, or going more often (not able to hold it for as long) may indicate something physical is happening.... at least it did for us.
Good luck!- Flag
