    Contract Help

    Good morning!

    Two questions:

    1. Should I be sure to include a clause in my contract that states something about my right to terminate a family's enrollment if it is not a good fit? I don't currently have anything like that. If so, any suggestions on wording?

    2. Can anyone here point me in the direction of someone who may be able to take a look at my contract and parent handbook to let me know if I'm forgetting something important or including anything unnecessary or problematic? I'm not referring to a specialist or anything like that... Just someone with experience and the want to help. lovethis

    Thank you!!

My contract states that I reserve the right to terminate services at any time. I don't list specific reasons/ situations as to why I would terminate except to say that situations that result in me operating in an unsafe or unethical manner will result in immediate termination. There are going to be DCFs & DCKs that are not a good fit, so being able to terminate is necessary.

The 2nd part- there are people on here with more comprehensive and detailed contracts than me. One of them can help you.

My full-time contract stipulates a notification period (will give 30 days notice) if terminating, but reserve the right to terminate immediately if the contract payment terms are violated. I also have a clause that stipulates the right to terminate with seven days' notice if the child is not adjusting to the daycare setting, within the first two months of care. (I figure 8 weeks is plenty of a trial run.) I've only had to invoke that once, but the parents could see it wasn't working from the get-go.

I could look at your contract. Not sure if you have to private message me and attach the file or what, but I'm willing to take a look. I have really thorough contract/policies/handbook/welcome packets etc. and used Tom Copeland's book about Contracts/Policies to make mine.

Mine says I can terminate at any time without notice for any reason without refund.
