    They Are Still Out There!

    Overheard today:

Daycare boy 4yrs old says to his 4yr old friend: "If you get 5 stickers in a row, you can play on the i-pad."
Daycare boy friend: "What's an i-pad?"

try 'tablet'. I have yet to meet a kid who didn't know what either was. One of my dcb's calls them all 'Nabi's' because that's what his is.

I am with DaycareDiva. I think all kids have heard of some form of tablet. What I want to hear is, "What would I do on the tablet/ipad/etc.?" or "That doesn't sound fun."

DD will be 3 in January and has no idea what a tablet/ipad/nabi is. We might be one of the few people left who don't have one. DH works in IT though so DD does know what a laptop is.

My 3 year old doesn't have a tablet, either (I have one, but I think I'm the only person on Earth who prefers my laptop to my tablet, so mine is in a closet somewhere), but he has played with my sister's iPad when visiting her. As soon as he walks into her house he asks her "where's your iPad?". I know that a little time on it won't kill him, and I know that I could put educational stuff on a tablet for him, but the longer I can hold off on him staring at a screen all day, the better, IMO. I know the day will come when he'll say that he just HAS to have an xbox or iPad, but I'm waiting as long as I can!

I don't have my own kids yet but I don't own a table and don't plan on owning one.

I prefer my laptop to my tablet. In fact, I prefer a good old fashion desk top to any of them. I hate the small keyboards on the laptop, and the touch screen of the tablets annoys me! I love having a good, solid keyboard! I don't use my tablet for much, except exploring on pinterest(because its a mobile site, and the pictures are bigger than on my phone! :: )

DCB 18mos, doesn't know what an ipad is either, but he's still quite young. But doesn't have any interest in things with screens. He's not interested in my phone, the ipad, my computer or the tv for that matter . I can turn the news on in the morning and listen to it and he doesn't even bat an eye towards the tv!
