If you were transitioning to work only M-Th next year would you still close 16 paid days (including the normal holidays) or would you do less?

Sure wish I could do this! I would still close for major holidays but would probably take out my personal days. As I'd have Fridays for those.- Flag

I work M-Th. I am closed for Federal holidays, so they're mostly the same as they were when I did M-F (this year I didn't get Independence Day, because it was a Friday, and I used to take the day after Thanksgiving, so now obviously that's no longer a paid day.) I also take 3 weeks (12 days) paid vacation.- Flag

I am currently only open M-Th (after my only m-f clients gave notice and then took it back and I said no!) and I only have 8 major holidays off/paid. And if that holiday falls on a Friday now they do not pay for it.
My paid holidays are:
New Years Eve
New Years Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
*had day after Thanksgiving listed as a paid holiday but that no long applies since I am not working Fridays now, but I keep it in there because I will go back to M-F if/when I need to*
Depending on what those 16 holidays off are I would consider cutting it down. Things like Columbus Day and Veteran's Day, etc. are not even always school holidays for our district and non-federal businesses are usually all open so I wouldn't close for them. I would consider looking at what holidays you are closed that a majority of parents still work and see if that warrants cutting any.
ETA: I have 7 paid vacation days, and still will take them even with my fridays off. I always took them in days, so switched from "1 week" to 7 days a while ago (I also give them free vacation days - # of days depends on their # of contracted days).- Flag

I don't take personal days. I take off 2 days at 4th and 2 days for Thanksgiving but other than that standard holidays and 8 days at Christmas time. 16 days period. I think I will keep it at 16 days because a lot of my kids will be part-timers.- Flag

This year when I switched from M-F to M-Thurs, I also shortened my hours and raised tuition so decided to stay open for most of the holidays. I did keep my 2 weeks winter break, 1 week spring break, 6 personal/sick days, Thanksgiving day, President's day, and one state holiday, all paid days. If you offer a quality program, the right families will see your worth.- Flag

What days do you take around xmas? I know many preschools/daycares close the week between xmas and new years, wish I could do that! I have thought of adding the day after xmas to my list of holidays at least.- Flag
