Payment Before Vacation

Hello,
I will be closed Wednesday-Friday of next week for Thanksgiving. Payday is on friday for the following week. My question is do you all ask parents to pay you the last day before vacation if you will be closed on payday? Or do you just have them bring it on Monday? Thanks in advance

I've done both.

Usually, in that situation, I ask that they write the check out for Friday, but will not deposit it until then. I've never had anyone say no.

Payment is always due the last business day (open day) of the week or the last day in which the child attended care. All banking and check cashing happen on Saturday so even if a family paid on Tuesday, their check would not be deposited until Saturday.

This is how I handle it as well. They can always postdate it to Friday. I never cash until Saturday anyway.

I was having a heck of a time with my PT kids forgetting to come back and pay, or parents forgetting if I was closed on Friday.

Parents are expected to give me a post-dated check. I have 2 clients who pay with cash only (their choice). They are both very reliable clients and so I let them pay me Monday MORNING at drop-off.

Back before I got my backbone, I had parents tell me they would drop their payment by on Friday. Most did. However, I had to spend the entire day waiting at home for people to come by. And of course, a few forgot completely. So now they have to give me a check in advance unless I have agreed in advance to cash on Monday morning. They CANNOT give me a check on Monday morning.
