Opening Early? Don't Mind If I Do!

I've alway been in the "No amount of money could get me to open early" camp.
Then this year I had a mom ask if I would consider opening 15 minutes early and how much would it be?
I told her 15 dollars a day, basically a dollar a minute thinking there was no way she would pay that.
Nope, I was wrong, she agreed and when she started coming earlier and earlier, like I knew she would I called her out she said she needed an extra half hour, so 30 dollars extra a day.
I almost felt guilty, maybe for a second and then I thought about it and now I don't feel guilty at all.
As a matter of fact, I'm getting ready to start my Christmas shopping and yeah, the extra $1500 I've saved since September will be nice
Another mom found out I opened early and wants to start paying to come early too. I guess money does make everything better in some situations because I've never been happier waking up earlier ; ) Haha!!

Sounds like it worked out great all around! That extra money sure will be nice this time of year.

That is awesome! I would wake up earlier for that, too!

Yep, the *only* way I will open early is for payment. For some reason, my DCP's seem surprised by this:confused: I guess they don't mind me working extra hours for free? But I won't

(And before anyone starts spouting about salaries and not getting paid extra, etc - most of my dcp's are higher level white collar workers. They make far more money per year than the average bear. In addition, they often get perks such as time off to compensate the additional hours. )

Wow, I can't believe she was so willing to pay $30 extra per day! They must really like you, that's great!

I couldn't believe she went for it either?!?
They used to have a nanny that they paid very well so I guess It sounds like a bargain to her compared to what she is used to paying.
The other daycare mom only wants 15 minutes but if I include her I'll make an extra $10'000 a year just for opening up an extra half hour!!! Now that I do the math I feel a little guilty

WOW! I would totally do it for $1/minute as well and I HATE early drop-off. ::

You are not forcing them to utilize the early drop-off service, they are CHOOSING to. You should be compensated accordingly for it.
