    Need Wording Help!

I know that this has been addressed on here before but I am not sure how to find it! I am wanting to put in my newsletter something to the effect about masking your child's fever before dropping them off at daycare. I have had this done a few times in the last 3 weeks but not with the same child. Also, that they don't try to pass it off as "teething" when that is clearly not the case! Thank you!!

using over the counter medication to mask your child's illness or fever puts all children and staff at risk and is grounds for immediate termination without refund.

If your child is not well, please keep them home. If you are not certain if your child should attend or not, please call me and together we can decide if we can still continue to meet your child's needs and keep all other children in care safe.

Staying home to rest is the best thing you can give your child for a speedy recovery. It will also help to reduce the spread of illness to others.

I cover mine in my sick policy (if kids need meds, they need to be home is my rule) but this is what it says:
Please do NOT give your child any fever/pain reducing medicines before dropping off in the morning. If they need to be given medicine, they need to be kept home. If this happens, it is grounds for immediate termination.

        As for fevers:
Children with a fever (100.4 or higher) need to be kept home. They may return to care when they have been fever free (without the use of medicine) for 24 hours. No exceptions to this will be made. I cannot diagnose if your child is only "teething" or has an infection going on and will always side on "better safe then sorry" when it comes to the health of the children in my care!

          We have pretty similar policies.

We can not allow the child to be on our care if he is running a fever. The child has to be fever free for 24 hours before returning.
My handbook does say this BUT I have NEVER had a problem with this in the 20 plus years I have done daycare! So never even crossed my mind to put something about "masking the symptoms".
Thank you for your help! I think I am going to put what daycare said....
