    New DCB

New DCB started this week and boy is he a tough one. He is 18 months and acts like a 6 month old. He can walk but that is about it. I am hoping it is shyness and the newness from just starting. So far I have not heard one word come out of his mouth (just grunts), he does not know how to clean up at all, not sure what to do with a crayon or paint brush, and doesn't really make any attempt to play with toys. He just screams all day long. If he is not screaming then he is laying on the floor watching the other kids play.

I am so not used to this. All of my kids are outgoing and jump right in from the get go. This little one came from a center, so I was thinking he would be the same, boy was I wrong! Here is to hoping he adjusts and comes out of his shell soon

I started a little boy who was 12 months in August. He was exactly like you described. It took until a couple weeks ago for him to come out of his shell, and he's like a totally different kid! It's been so rewarding seeing him blossom. I hope your little one does the same soon!

      Thanks, me too!

He came out of his shell a bit this afternoon so I am positive he will, it will just take time.
