Do You Have This Kid?

Who watches adult violent movies and plays violent video games and his whole way of playing seems to be a video game? Who has no attention span and is the kid you wonder every single day.....what is going to happen to you next year when you are in kindergarten?

If I get out a bingo game....all the pieces will become good guys and bad guys and they will fight each other.....and no sign of playing the "correct" way.

I'm all for imagination...but to me, this is only repeating what he has seen on tv or video games.

Hate to be judgemental.....but he needs to have all technology turn off or at least minimized. I can't compete with video games. My circle time is fun but it's not action pact video game. He just stares off into space and I have to ask him to come back and join us.

What would you say to his parents?

I would mention regularly something like, "We tried to play Bingo today but Billy decided to turn the chips into soldiers and despite my reminders, was unable to play the game appropriately so had to sit out." I did have this kid and I mentioned things like that on a semi-regular basis. The parents started picking up on my hints and started working with the child to participate in activities other than violent video games, and he's gotten much better since then.
