    Me: Is dcb rocked to sleep?

    Dcd & dcm: No.

    Me: Does dcb use a pacifier or comfort object to fall asleep?

    Dcd & dcm: no, we have never given him a pacifier because we don't want to wreck his teeth and he's not really attached to any particular object.

    Me: Well I'm having trouble getting him to sleep for nap so any ideas are welcome.

    Dcd & dcm: Oh we give him a bottle of warm milk when we lay him down and he drinks that then falls asleep.

    :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

    So much for not wrecking his teeth.

    Friends of my brother put their dd down to sleep with a bottle of milk every night and she ended up with bottle rot. At 4 years old. the dentist had to pull all of her teeth. I hope someone sets them straight on this practice.

      Please tell us you enlightened them?? I can't believe with all the talk about things like this that people think it's still okay.
      We won't even get into the possibility of choking.

        I gave them a 1 page hand out on bottle rot/dental caries. Also recommended to start weaning him off the bottle. Recommended 2-4 oz of water in the bottle instead of milk if he absolutely needs the bottle to fall asleep. Also recommended they try a pacifier, less damaging. We shall see.

          I have a dcb with severe bottle rot from this. He's 4 now, and they're doing expensive monthly dental appointments to fill in holes here and there and some coating thing to avoid extraction before he gets his adult teeth.

          They look AWFUL. I would rather hear he is rocked to sleep!

            I had to get a 16 month old dcb off of this habit. It took me a week. Dcm couldn't believe it was that easy for me. Well ... Try saying, "No" once in a while! Very sweet dcf though.
