    How Would You Charge?

This family pays for 2 days per week regardless of if they come or not. I know a lot of you charge full week whether they come or not but this is the deal I have with this family - 2 days. Sometimes they don't come at all but they still pay the 2 days. This week they asked if they could come all week, but then dcg ended up being sick 3 of the days.

Would you just charge the 2 regular days or what?

If asking to come the whole week was out of the ordinary then I would base my decision on how "good" this family is...if they are great, pay on time, don't pick up late etc. I would probably cut them a break. I would only give them a break if that space didn't cost me money though. If you turned someone else away so they could come then I would charge the full rate.

If you do only charge for 2 days I would also make sure to mention that it's not your normal policy (so it's not a problem in the future), that you are making a one time exception for them

I have several families that are obligated to pay for a min number of days only and then pay for additional days as needed and what I do is explain to them that the days they "reserve" are what they pay for.....even if they end up sick and don't use them.

So in your case, they reserved all 5 days so they owe all 5 days.

It's unfortunate that the child got sick and they didn't use the days, but you still held the days for them and weren't able to fill them with anyone else so that's how I look at it.

That's what I would do too. If I did have to turn away someone else, then I would charge them for that day.
