    DCG suddenly has a lisp?

I've watched dcg for 1 1/2 years and she has always said her "S" correctly in words. She started preschool this year and about a week ago she started talking with a lisp and in kind of a different voice.

Has anyone had a dck do this? I'm thinking maybe she picked it up at school? I'm not really sure. It was just weird that it happened all of a sudden.

I would think she's copying another child's speech from preschool. I would correct her speech by telling her how to correctly say the words she's pronouncing wrong (the s words and any other she starts mis-pronouncing) and tell her to speak in HER real voice. I would also tell her parents about it and suggest to them that she might be copying someone at preschool. I would suggest that the parent talk to the preschool teacher about it also. Since she just started preschool, the teacher might not realize this is not her normal voice and speech pattern. The preschool teacher also needs to be correcting her speech and telling her to speak in her real voice. The parents need to do that as well.

It is normal for kids to mimic other children's speech, but it does need to be stopped as soon as possible so this child does not develop a speech problem.
