    I became the Burger Meister!

(from Santa Claus is Coming To Town)

    I took away the toys!

Last week the kids started dumping the bins of loose small toys...blocks, little people, letters, puzzles etc. When I went in the other room I would hear loud dumping, I came back to a mountain of toys in the middle of the room! I haven't had this problem in a while. I allow them to dump one bin at a time while they play with the toys, but this was just dumping, making a mountain and walking away.

The first time I was upset and warned them I would take the toys away if they continued. I had them help me sort the toys.

When they did it again on Friday I went in there with a trash bag and bagged up all the toys! We're talking hundreds of loose toys and puzzles that needed sorting and, well, I warned them!

I planned to give them back one bin at a time.

Today they moved on to the other toys. I was in the living room with the babies, I came back to the playroom to see a mountain of toys! Grrrr! These were the bigger toys.

I boiled it down to maybe they are bored with the toys I have out and it's time to rotate. So I rotated a couple of things and it helped. But they are only getting those couple of toys for now. I will add in more throughout the week if they play nicely.

Anyway, I felt like the Burger Meister..."Children shall not play with toys!" ::

I had to do the same thing last year. What I started doing is closing off my playroom and taking out a couple of toys at a time that they could play with in the family room. This was usually when I was making lunch or cleaning up from breakfast. Took the wind right out of their sails::

That is exactly why we have Velcro name tags for our areas. We do NOT move on until one station is clean! SOO frustrating, especially since my 'toy dumper' is 4 1/2!

I have done this only once- I had enough of the dumping! Idk, the kids love to do this, so sometimes I allow it, but they have to clean up. It drives me crazy when Anything is out of place, so the toys all in the garbage bag bothered me more than it did them ::
