Do You Use Speech Recognition or Type?

I recently bought Dragon speech recognition software and wonder who uses what here. I personally type slowly so being able to talk and have words appear as fast as I speak is helpful. The problem I find is and having to use punctuation commands like "comma, period, question mark and new paragraph" to also control the software.

I speak publically around the world and do not read from a TelePrompTer or written notes. I am starting to worry that this new Logic will creep into my proformance and I will subconsciously and inadvertently use the commands as I speak out of habit. Anyone else have this problem?

At the very least I'd like to use poll to find out who uses what. Thanks

I have dragon on my laptop. I've had it for years but I don't use it much.

I type 120 wpm so honestly, dragon makes it slower for me.

My bestie uses it to type her college papers because it's faster for her.

        Same here ^^

Dragon came pre-loaded onto my laptop when I bought it but I don't use it.
        I can type much faster.

I do however, use the talk to text function on my i-phone verses having to try to type on those tiny little buttons.

          Apparently dragon agrees .

My daughter is 11 and can already do 20 wpm... It would be more but the poor girl can't spell worth a crap... God bless her... Lol..

Is there an iPad app that does it?? I'm pretty fast on the iPad and iPad mini but the screen sensitivity can't keep up ha.

Since I came home to be with the kids, I've looked for home jobs where I could type but apparently none exist that are real I could make a fortune if I could find leads.

                none of the above.

I do EVERYTHING on my Android phone. I use Swype. Faster than clicking on individual letters. Lots of autocorrect though.::::

I type, otherwise I just keep looking at what is typed after I say it and it just takes a lot longer. I'm technically challenged though ::

Michael, what version of Dragon are you using?

My brother uses Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional version 8 and one of the features is automatic punctuation.

"Version 8 is a substantial improvement over previous versions, which I thought were no less than amazing. There are many new improvements in version 8, including automatic punctuation"

I think they have versions up to 13 now.... ? I don't know for sure.

Oh man!! I didn't know there was an auto punctuation update... I need to check my source for that new version and try it out.

I just did the test for fun. My score was 59 words a minute with three errors so my actual score was 56 words per minute. I did the tiger one. You can pick your topic.

Before doing childcare for 20 years I was a secretary and only get practice on forums like this now. Not too bad of a speed considering....::
